The Shonan Plant began operations in 1956 in an area along the Sagamigawa River not far from the Samukawa Shrine as Japan's first glass fiber plant. It is the main plant for a great many glass wool thermal insulation and sound absorption materials.
As well as housing processing and production equipment as part of the Industrial Materials business, the site is also home to the Technical Development Division, which is responsible for research and development for all the company's businesses.
The Chubu Plant started its operation in 2019 with the basic concept of 1) Safety 2) Clean 3) Innovation 4) Labor-saving and energy-saving as the plant dedicated to the high-performance insulation product "Aclear" in the Akemi Industrial Park in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
The Kyushu Plant was constructed on land overlooking Dokai Bay in Kita Kyushu to meet the growing demand for glass wool, and entered operation in 1992.
As a production base for Western Japan, the plant not only supplies glass wool to Kyushu but to the Chugoku, Shikoku and Kansai districts as well.
