Basic Approach to the Protection of Personal Infomation

Based on its Personal Information Protection Policy, Asahi Fiber Glass Co., Ltd. ("AFGC," hereinafter) will comply with laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, treat the handling of personal information with meticulous care, establish trust in AFGC and endeavor to live up to those expectations.

AFGC recognizes that it is extremely important to properly protect personally identifiable information such as the name, address or telephone number of any party with whom AFGC does business, including customers and business partners.

AFGC has established the following basic policy to conduct business activities while maintaining awareness of its social responsibility, protecting privacy and complying with laws, regulations and other requirements concerning personal information.

  1. When acquiring personal information, AFGC will identify the purpose(s) of use to the utmost extent and acquire such information by lawful and fair means.
  2. AFGC will use the personal information acquired within the scope of the purpose(s) of use and only to the extent necessary for business. In the event if becomes necessary to use the personal information beyond this scope, except when allowed for in law, AFGC will obtain consent from the information source (the individual to whom the personal information relates) regarding the usage in question.
  3. AFGC will appoint a manager responsible for the handling of personal information and endeavor to exercise appropriate management to prevent unauthorized access to personal information or the loss, manipulation, leakage, etc. of personal information.
  4. Except when consent has been obtained from the information source or when allowed for in law, AFGC will not provide personal information to a third party. In addition, when providing personal information to a third party, AFGC will obligate the third party to manage the personal information by means of a contract or other agreement and endeavor to prevent the leakage or resupply of the personal information from the third party.
  5. To the extent deemed reasonable, AFGC will responsible as soon as possible when an information source requests the disclosure, correction, addition or deletion of their own personal information.
  6. AFGC will comply with laws, regulations and other requirements concerning the protection of personal information and continuously work to review and improve the initiatives described in the above items.
  7. By thoroughly disseminating this policy among AFGC officers and employees (including temporary employees, dispatch employees and other staff) and among related persons, AFGC will endeavor to develop a climate in which each and every person understands the importance of the policy and implements it.

The Purposes of Collecting Personal Information

  1. Requests
    If you wish to make a request, please direct your inquiry to the service division to which the personal information was provided (or to the division administering the website if the information was provided to a website). The division responsible will send the designated form for the request. Please fill out the form then submit it by mail. Also note that to prevent the leakage of personal information, AFGC will only accommodate requests from the individuals to whom personal information relates (except in the case of a legal representative).
  2. Information to be Submitted
    To confirm that the person making the request is the individual to whom the personal information relates, please submit a copy of either a driver's license or residence certificate together with the designated form.
  3. Reply Method
    With regard to a received request, AFGC will confirm its registered information and reply directly to the individual by mail at a later date. Please note that if AFGC is unable to confirm that a request has been lodged by the individual to whom the personal information relates, it may decline to respond. In addition, while AFGC will endeavor to provide a swift response, please understand in advance that it may take time to ensure the accuracy of its reply.

Access Logs

The AFGC website records information on the people who have accessed the website in the form of access logs. While access logs record information such as IP address, the web browser used, the user's operating system and the time and date of access, this information is not used in conjunction with personal information. Please rest assured that these access logs do not contain information that identifies the "personal information" of customers.
